Iridium Burst(SM) service provides one way broadcast of data to anywhere on the planet. This Global Data Broadcast capability was developed and is sold by Celestech.
The Iridium Burst(SM) service provides an ideal solution for a wide range of applications including persistent user services (weather, warnings, etc.), private radio network applications (dispatch, closed user group functions), machine-to-machine (M2M) communication, and many other use cases to anywhere on Earth.
The service offers a very high link margin (signal strength). This link margin is many time stronger than typical satellite-based services. As a result, the Iridium Burst(SM) signal is pervasive in most outdoor settings and can be received indoors in many instances.
The service uses a very small, rugged terminal with standard interfaces and low power consumption to enable communicating with everything from fixed locations to trucks, planes and ships. Applications are limited only by imagination. Iridium Burst(SM) is currently being integrated into world-wide applications that serve industries such as Mineral Exploration, Rail, Maritime, Aeronautical, Utilities, Scientific Research, and Government/Military.
Iridium Burst(SM) is a global data transport capability for broadcasting data messages to equipment from a centralized system. Messages can be text, binary or any data type. At the terminal, an RS-232 serial interface provides bi-directional communications with the terminal and enables messages to be received. From the infrastructure side, a standard email or IP-based Web Services interface is available.
